Another Little Quilt Swap 7 and another UFO finished!

This is was I made for this round of ALQS7. It's machine pieced and hand quilted with Pearl cotton 8. It's quite small, only 12 inches square, which was the rule this time.

Since I thought it would make a nice cushion  I've made a pocket at the back to insert a cushion form. This way it can be used either way.

As I didn't have a cushion form with the exact measurements at hand, I made one myself. I just cut two pieces of batting, sewed around it, leaving a opening for turning. After turning it, I stuffed it and hand stitched the opening closed. Voilà!
And another UFO is finished. Although I nearly gave up the will to live as my machine just wouldn't cooperate. I lost count how many time the thread broke or how many stitches were missed. But it's finished now and if you don't look too closely, it not too bad.
Have a great week.

Ooh Vreni they are both beautiful.
It's maddening isn't it when your machine just does not want to cooperate!

You have done a great job on both projects Vreni and well done on two finishes. I think I have that quilt pattern somewhere and do intend to make it at some point. Seeing yours will inspire me to get on with it.

Beautiful wall hanging and your quilting looks great! What method of appliqueing did you use for the snow flakes?

I love your snowflake tree. I hate when a machine acts up - for some reason I have great difficulty with free motion quilting on my regular machine and I have to use a different machine to avoid constant thread breakage. I drives me crazy.

Way to go! The swap pillow is great, and so is the way you've decided to display it. And that UFO finish was well worth the time you put into it. Gorgeous! The print is so busy that if it has skipped stitches, they sure don't show. Congrats on another UFO biting the dust... so to speak. A finish is a great feeling, isn't it?

Hallo Vreni,
LG Doris

Hate, hate, hate when the machine goes nuts! Considering the pain, the quilt looks brilliant. Love the snowflake shapes.
I find, when the machine is playing up, a total pull apart and reassemble helps. The pillow insert was a clever trick. You get the exact size you need.

The tree is awesome! The result of all your tedious stitching work is stunning!

Vreni, your cushion looks fantastic with the contrasting thread hand quilting. I loooove the winter quilt you just finished, it's very pretty!

I can only imagine all the work that went into your snowflake tree. The back ground fabric is perfect too. Good idea to make your own pillow form to fit the size you need.

Liebe Vreni,

Beautiful mini quilt Vreni and what a fabulous idea to make your own cushion insert, a great way to use up leftover batting too. I would never have thought of that! I adore your blue and white tree though, and even when I clicked on to get a closer look, it still looks perfect, so good on you for persevering with your machine. xo

Congratulations on both finishes! I've never thought to make small quilts adaptable to pillows - what a great idea! I love love love the background fabric you picked for your tree.
