Another year is coming to an end

Well Christmas is over and as always I feel a bit of an anti climax. I look forward to the festivities and put a lot of work into preparing everything and then it's over in second, or so it feels. This year it has been even worst as we only came back on the 22nd of December from a week in India - where we were invited to the wedding of one of my son's friends.

Here are some impressions from the wedding, which was a three days affair with 2'000 invited guests.

We had a few days before the wedding to explore Mumbai on our own. We really enjoyed being back in Asia.

Somehow I had problems getting my Christmas spirit back after the week away and in a totally different culture. Luckily I had almost everything organised before we left, even the tree was up and decorated and most of the shopping was done and the gifts wrapped and under the tree.

We had a lovely Christmas eve and Christmas day with the extended family and friends. Since then the house guest has left I've been pottering around at home, enjoying having the kids here, not doing much at all.

At this time of the year I usually write a post about what I've achieved during the past year. This year there isn't really much to write about, so I just leave it at that and hope, that next year I'll have lots to share again.

As you might remember, I'm not one for making New Year's resolution. But I have decided on a couple of goals for next year and they are:

1. be a better blogger!!
2. finish some UFOs, in particular The Aunt's Quilt
3. make a big effort to find a quilt group as I found that I really need the inspiration of other quilters to keep me going.

That's it for today. I want to wish everybody a Happy, Healthy, Interesting and Wonderful New Year.
Vreni xx

Hi Vreni. Your visit to India for the wedding looks so interesting. It must be amazing to be part of such a big occasion. I know how you feel about an anticlimax after such a buzz for a few days. We enjoyed having the family here, especially on Christmas day, which started with a church service, and ended with lots of giggles as we talked with the grandchildren about their gifts, and watched the last episode of Downton Abbey together. My 19yr old grandson pretended her was just watching to please us, but we caught him showing some interest, which provided lots more giggles. I took down the tree and decorations today. Everything feels bare and cold, though we have a roaring fire on. I think it calls for a wee bit of quilting. Now what can I make. Happy New Year 2016.

My dear Vreni, Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year 2016 already!!!.
I love the photos from India. I have never ever been there. That is so cool to see the wedding. That must have been a nice cultural "experience"
I love how they decorated the BMW lol. I married a car enthusiast, so I know cars LOL
I love your blog and I love reading about your incredible creations.
Many times I do not comment because I am SO BUSY here with these two 92 year olds, that keep me running for doctors and pills and bananas and oatmeal.... Then the grand baby is cute, but getting heavy....
2016 is going to be the best year.
We will only have to suffer under the Obama Regime for 365 more days of destruction LOL

Wow! They really know how to celebrate. Looks like a fun and interesting time. So lucky to be a part of it.

I know what you mean about inspiration and encouragement from a group of quilters. I belong to what we used to call the Lazy Bee but we are anything but lazy! We started the group not wanting any rules, or dues, or group projects etc. We just wanted to meet together and work on our own things. It has been wonderful. And inspiring. We go on shop hops together and retreats too. And we help each other with picking fabrics, finishing projects, encouraging and lots of laughter.

2016 will be a great year. I don't make resolutions as such either but I do think of things that I can do better. Cleaning out my sewing room always seems to be on my mind. Maybe this year......

A Belated Happy New Year Vreni! Your trip to India sounds wonderful -- what a big and fabulous wedding! Congratulations on managing a good Christmas too -- with a big trip just before the holiday -- what a challenge!

I'm with you -- I really enjoy the comeraderie of a group to keep me going on a project. I have lots of projects on tap for this year -- most of them baby related LOL. Good Luck on your finish of the Aunts Quilt -- I loved that project SO much and I really miss it!!!

Looking forward to all of your inspiration in 2016!

Happy new year, Vreni! I'm looking forward to reading your blog again! I need to get on with some quilting again. We are currently in new house settling mode, so I have not done any sewing except for curtains :(

Your trip to Mumbai sounds great, especially attending an Indian wedding that goes over 3 days. Indians here have kept the tradition and 3 days wedding is normal here too. I've been to a few and it's exhausting! lol
