My latest guests have departed on Monday, my DS has gone back to Boston for his last year at university and DH is travelling, so I'm having the house to myself for a few weeks! Bliss! I have big plans for this solitary time. Lots and lots of sewing among other things!
I've finished a few more of my hexagons rounds; just a couple more and I can start appliqueing them onto the background fabric.
I've also been reading a lot. I just finished the newest book by Barbara Kingsolver; The Lacuna. I really enjoyed it, as I did her previous books. It's a work of fiction but set in true historical background. Not an era of history I knew very much about and I had to google a few names, places and events to find out what was fact and what fiction.
I'm a big fan of Alexander McCall Smith books. I've read them all (with the exception of his children's books) and I'm now in the process of reading the second book of the Corduroy Mansion Series The Dog Who Came In From the Cold. It's very entertaining while the characters are highly believable. McCall Smith is indeed the master of "feel good stories".
Back to the couch where I'm sewing and watching TV! Not a thing I normally do on a Saturday morning when people are around ;)! So don't tell, OK?

Wow, what a stunning effect you created with the hexagons! I love it!
Hmmmm, love that moment of total peace in the house, no mouths to feed and the couch is all yours! That quilt should be finished before DH comes back home... or what's on tv?
The hexies look great, love the effect!
I long to be able to read a book, the boys don't like it when I read! I block the whole world out and don't here anyone talking to me...good for me, bad for them!
Those fussy cut hexis are amazing! And I'll have to put that Barbara Kinsolver on my list of books to read. I've liked the books of hers that I've read. So I guess you could say you're going to enjoy the "piece" and quiet.
Those hexagons are amazing! The finished quilt will be stunning. A few weeks with time to do whatever you want. . . so envious. I hope you get lots accomplished.
Vreni, your hexies are taking my breath away... Gorgeous, can't decide which one is my favourite!
I wish you a super super stitchy time! Oh the bliss...

Hallo Vreni,
wunderschön gestaltet, deine Hexas! Und ich beneide dich darum, alleine zu sein! Nutze die Zeit und tu nur, wozu du Lust hast!

Just beautiful Vreni, stunning the effect this colour-schemes give. The first one is my favorite :) however, when I look better now, I just cannot choose wich one I love most :?
And believe it or not last week I picked up my needle again. I am making a cover for my teacher-agenda. I choosse the fabric like your red box of course, you know I love that fabric so much;) And than from next week, when I am working with my students, and I look at it, I will always feel close to you and to our time in Shanghai :)
My DH had been gone now to the same place like yours, from tomorrow my DD will also be gone, soo than, like you, I will be sitting on the couch, watching my favorite programs, reading, working, sewing, eating... exactly like you ;)
