A little more progress

All the hour glass blocks are made
and since some of them turned out a bit wonky I used them to make this little pin cushion.
I really like the colour combination.
Now I just have to applique the last few blocks, then I can start assembling the quilt top.

But I have once again become side tracked. I found a basket with scraps from the silk quilt I made a while ago (you can see the quilt here). I didn't think there would be quite enough for another quilt, but maybe a wall hanging.  It turned out I had enough scraps for a decent sized lap quilt (36 by 56 inches).
I love the vibrancy of the silks.

I think I might try to quilt it with an invisible thread although I haven't had much luck with it on my Bernina 820. I will have to "fiddle" with the tension, otherwise a call to the very helpful  Bernina agent is in order.

As today is the first day of Lunar New Year I would like to wish you all a very Happy Year of the Dragon.

Vreni x

Happy Chinese new year to you too. I love what you've done with the silk, if you find out any info on using the invisible thread, please share as I have the same machine.
Love how your top is coming along as well as the cute accessory you made, the pincushion.

Liebe Vreni,

Silk!! No wonder it is sooooo gorgeous! Love the solid colors. They are perfect with your tessellations. I have been mia for awhile. Did you share your pattern? Not that I would get to making one...I have so many projects in the works right now! Ha!

Can't wait to see the hour glass quilt finished. The silk scraps came together really well. It's great when you can make something from the scrap pile, especially when it turns out so well.

Your appliqué/hour glass quilt is going to be smashing! And the second quilt top is lovely too. The colors remind me of the American Southwest, especially Tucson AZ. Very exciting!
