Blogger's BOM April

This month the designer is Mrs. Schmenkman
All the fabrics I've used so far are from my own stash and the red and white fabrics are Westfalen fabrics from Germany. Funny enough I bought them years ago in Japan at the Tokyo at the International Quilt Festival and have been saving them for something special.

At the same time, I also bought these ribbons. I would like to somehow use them in the quilt, but I have no idea how. Any suggestions?

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Oh my, but aren't your blocks pretty! Such lovely colors. I don't have access to my fabric and machine to make mine BOM, so I'll surely have it to show in... June, maybe? Those fabric ribbons would look great in your quilt. When all your blocks are made and you can start playing with a layout, I'm sure the right idea for using ribbons will come to you. Perhaps you can think "ribbons appliqued onto sashing." Just a though.

Hmmm, maybe set the blocks with the white sashing and then run the ribbons along the sashing? It will be fun to see what you decide. I sure do love those colors!

Your blocks are so lovely! I have been looking for reds like yours, but there aren't many around. Now I see why I couldn't find them! :) The ribbons do seem to be made to go into the quilt--such a perfect color match. Perhaps you can work a bit of them into your blocks? I'm not very good at ribbon--I buy it, but can't part with it to use it, so I'm sure you'll get better ideas from others. It's going to be a lovely quilt when you're finished!

Lovely blocks. I too think you'll find a good way to use the ribbons. I do like the idea of putting them into the blocks or even as sashing.

I am really loving your colours for the BOM!
The sashing ideas sound great...I was thinking along the lines of using it how they use selvages in quilts, like in string quilts. They are so cute btw!

Hallo Vreni,
so schön, deine Blöcke!

I just come back from Germany and recognize the freshness and crisp colors you see everywhere over there. Can wait to see what you will decide on the ribbons. Love, Rose-Anne

Loving the fresh colours of these blocks Vreni, as for the ribbons, maybe make a few extra plain white blocks to scatter in the quilt here & there with the ribbons appliqued on to highlight them?

I love your blocks and the fabrics in them. I think the ribbons would be perfect in the sashing too.
