Something "fishy" and playing with sticky notes!

I don't mind telling you that I'm a bit addicted to Craftsy classes. I love the convenience as well as to have access to teacher which otherwise wouldn't' be possible.  I have just finished a class taught by Camille Roskelley where she encourages her students to play with half triangles and squares. With some sticky notes I had laying around, I had a go trying to make block patterns. It's quite amazing how many different combinations are possible with just three colours.

The next step is to cut up fabric and sew some of these combinations.

I've also had a little play with fish. I'm not sure yet where I'm going with it; maybe a baby quilt or a wall hanging. At the moment I'm just having fun.

Other than that, I've been FMQ a quilt. Here's a little preview:

I don't practice my FMQ enough. I always feel that by the time I finish quilting a quilt, I get into my stride and the stitches start to look decent. Of course if I wait a few month before I do it again, all my practice has flown out the window. I must practice more!!!

OK, that's it for today. Have a lovely weekend.

Great idea for playing with block layouts Vreni. The quilting looks good and you will soon have something else to hone those skills on.

What a great idea to play with those triangles and squares. Really makes me want to sew a few of your great blocks!

I downloaded craftsy a few weeks ago but never opened the app. Sounds interesting. Like the sticky note idea. I downloaded a cool app called blockfab that also plays with block layouts. Worth a look.

Liebe Vreni,
Deine Spielereien gefallen mir sehr.
Roswitha

How clever to practice quilt blocks and color arrangement with sticky notes! Love that idea. Your sea creatures look interesting, and I bet you're as curious about how they'll come together as we are. And it's so true what you've said about FMQing. That's one of the reasons I sometimes quilt a quilt from one side, across the middle, to the other side. The best quilting starts to show at about the time I hit the middle. Your quilting looks very pretty.

I thank you for stopping by my blog and sorry about taking my time to get back to you, I wish you happy quilting . theodora

Love that sticky note idea, that's a brilliant way to play with block layouts. I haven't tried a Craftsy class yet, but they really seem to be very beneficial.
Your fish look cute too.
I'm the same with FMQ, I never practice enough.
