Coup de foudre

or in plain English; it was love at first sight! It was when I saw this quilt and then it kept on popping up here and in variations here and here. My mind was made up! I had to make my own. And I had to copy the "original" exactly (or as much as possible). That's not not something I normally do as I usually like to put my own spin on things. But not this time. It's the perfect quilt for those fabrics you have problems cutting into.

 Big Blooms

I have pieced it by hand, usually during quilt group time. As I haven't done much hand piecing, it's been a bit of a learning curve. But at least I can say now that I've pieced a whole quilt by hand.

Now on to quilting. Since I've hand pieced it, this quilt deserves to be hand quilted as well and I'm thinking perle cotton. I'm going to get on with it right away. I don't want  this one to end up on the pile of tops waiting for ever to be quilter.
Cheers

Oh my goodness! I love it! Never seen it before. I should do a hand-pieced quilt, too, which would be a first for me. This one just might be it.

This is THE perfect way to use the big printed fabrics. And those polka dots in between are the icing on the cake! This one definitely deserves the love of hand quilting....

Roswitha

Oh, it's so pretty! Even though I'm not a huge fan of flowers or floral prints, this one is wonderful. Perle cotton quilting will be just the ticket for making it even lovelier. I think you have your quilting mo-jo back!

I never really liked snowball quilts until I made my own. It totally converted me. Your bold blooms are perfect and the spotty joining squares are just right to show them off.

From the looks of it, your quilt is definitely the hardest design and pattern to work on. Whew! How in the world were you able to do that on your own? Really really a great and stunning work! It’s really lovely that I want to keep it for myself. Just kidding! Anyway, keep up the good work and hope to see more from you. Ciao!
