Giving in to temptation!

I have finally cracked and started a new project. I had the Camelot pattern for a while, but wanted to finish a couple of UFOs first before indulging. Here's my first hand pieced block.

Then I  made this paper pieced block for a charity quilt our Tuesday group is putting together (pattern can be found here). The idea is that each month one of the members chooses a block and preferably a new technique to teach the ladies who are new to quilting. Anybody who is interested can sew along.

For July I sewed this block for the Hasenbach Challenge; it's rather small, only 6 by 6 inches,
as well as this block, which isn't a challenge block, but will be include in my winter quilt.
All the blocks I've made so far.
I can't believe that August is already upon us. Tomorrow my daughter is arriving and I suspect I won't have much time for sewing for the next couple of weeks.

I hope your week is going well.

I received my copy of Camelot last week and it is sitting there staring at me. I have to get a couple of other projects out of the way first.

Your winter blocks look great together. I'm slowly working on a King George quilt, which is similar in nature to Camelot. They are fun (though complicated) blocks to do.

Hallo Vreni,

Your winter quilt is sure beautiful. I look forward to seeing it all sewn and quilted. Absolutely love the blue star block. Great fabrics. Enjoy your daughter's visit. I know what you mean about not getting down to sew with company. My daughter and her family moved in a year ago and I don't think I've spent much time at my machine since they moved in!

Love the colours in your Camelot block. Those cute houses with snow on the roof look awesome.

Your Camelot block is perfection, Vreni! That center couldn't be more accurate. The fabrics look like something from Jenny Beyer. As for your winter blocks... well, all I can say is charming. It's evident there's a lot of paper-piecing in each of those little squares. Your fabric selections are beautiful. Do enjoy your daughter's visit. As the years seem to be rushing by, that time spent together is precious.

Hallo Vreni,

Iris
