This quilts top is made with one jelly roll (Just Wing It by Moda) plus about 2 yards of white fabric. Although I have a few in my possession, it's the first time I've used a jelly roll as so far I just couldn't make myself open and unroll one. But I must say it was a joy to work with and it all came together easily.
For this quilt I've cut the strips myself. A few years ago I was very much into the shabby chic look and still have plenty of those fabrics left. I think it will go well with my mum's decor in her house. As both quilts are for Christmas presents, I better get going with quilting them.
Have you seen the free Block of the Month Jackie from Canton Village Quilt Works is organizing? If not, take a look here.
In my quest to reduce my stash I am playing along. Here's my first block. Now I can't wait for next month's pattern.
Thanks for stopping by.

I know what you mean about how hard it is to open jelly rolls. I only have one, my first one, it is Terrain and it looks so good all rolled up!
The quilt looks great though. I am off to check out that BOM now.
I have a lot of fabric like that Vreni that just looks too good to attempt to cut up. Great ideas for both quilts. Lucky recipient is going to have a very nice christmas.
Stash busting is the best!! So glad that you are taking part in the BOM, your first block is beautiful!
Love your quilts! Especially the pink and rose one!
I love how the zig-zag quilt turned out! I've been cutting a 2.5" strip from each piece of batik that I buy, so now have an impressive "jelly roll" of my own, waiting to become something. Will add this to the list of possibilities.
Hello Vreni,
I love the quilts and the colors you have used. <<<<<<<<<for sure i will try to make the first one made with the collection Just Wing it. Where can i find the pattern.
Thanks Vreni,
I love your quilt made with jelly roll Just Wing It by Moda: it's a good pattern to work with jelly roll.
And I like very much your block of the month: red, white and aqua is my favorite match.
Jelly Rolls are great. They are all cut up and coordinated. I like the pattern you used too. Your Mum's shabby chic quilt is beautiful. I was into that fabric a while ago and made a jelly roll quilt with it.
Wow, you have moved to the next gear, what an activities behind the sewing machine! Your jelly roll quilt is great! Makes me want to open my roll as well!
I love the zig zag quilt! And I have seen the block of the month from Canton Village Quilt Works. It looks so great and I love the fabrics you chose to use for it! Hugs!
I also have a Christmas jelly roll. Someday I may even use it! Love the 2 stash buster quilts you have made.
Love your bright jelly roll quilt! White is a great contrast to the colors. I'm finding I'm using a lot more white solid than I ever have. It's good to have a JoAnn's coupon to buy five yards at a time!
Oh, good for you on your stash busting! Your zigzag quilt is soooo pretty -- I'm sure your mother will love it. I hope you can buy some fab new fabrics soon!
I haven't been able to open my jelly rolls either. They look so pretty sitting there.
you are on the right path, a few more days and you can go fabric shopping again.... Love the zig-zag quilt. I will have to start some blocks of the month after my container has been unloaded.....
Your jelly roll quilt is so colourful and fun!
