The top is finished, or is it?

Is this top finished? It doesn't look like it, does it? The plan was to quilt it then put a red binding on. But now seeing it together, I think it does need a border. I have just about enough of the red and white dotted fabric left for a narrow border. I also have loads of already prepared hexagons, so I think I will use them like this:

Or what about this?

In any case, the top definitely isn't finished. But hopefully it won't take me another two years to get there.

Love the border idea! I like the second option with the black centres!

I'm not normally a fan of borders but the border looks fabulous and I love the half flower hexagons on the outer border. I prefer the black/white centers.

black centers look better, and I agree, the quilt looks even better with borders!

Wow, Vreni!

Wow Vreni!. I love your fussy cutting and the quilt top looks fab. I would definitely go with the 2nd border option. Hexagons. What is not to love?

Hallo Vreni,
oh, ja, mit einem Rand sieht das ganze bestimmt noch vieeeel besser aus, als es jetzt schon aussieht! Ganz toll, bin gespannt, was du noch daraus zauberst.

The hexi blocks look brilliant. I actually like the top as it is. I think I am the only one so far. I just think the blocks are so incredible with the fussy cutting and they make the story complete for me. Whatever you choose, this quilt is going to be fabulous.

Das sieht aber klasse aus, liebe Vreni, Das Layout mit den "Eck-Kreisen" und die halben Blümchen für den Rand...Ideen muß man haben, und du hast sie.

Wundervoll

I love this quilt top. You may have solved a huge problem for me. I have 11 center pieces and need a way to finish them. How did you place them in the background? My pieces are over 70 years old and so beautiful. I don't want them to be folded away in a drawer. Any advice or pattern would be appreciated. Thank you
Carol

I Carol, since you didn't leave an email address, I hope you will read my reply here. I've appliqued the hexagons by hand on the back ground blocks, then sewed them together. I don't know if that would be possible with your blocks. Alternatively you could make hexagons with back ground fabric and put them in between the blocks to sew them all together. Let me know if you need more information.
