Another of our friends from the Tuesday group is leaving and she has requested flower blocks for her friendship quilt. And not just any old flower, no, it has to be the flower from our countries of origin. It was obvious what I had to make, but the how is another story altogether. As there are no quilting or applique patterns for Edelweiss available, I had to design my own. I'm just hoping it is obvious as what it is supposed to be.
And a closeup of my French knots.
To be Dutch would have been much easier. Anybody can applique a tulip, don't you agree?
And now back to my Scrappy Trip Along.
Cheers

You did an amazing job Vreni. So much detail, it's gorgeous.
Your Edelweiss turned out beautiful. The black background fabric works well.
And I agree, much easier when you are Dutch...
It is so pretty Vreni! I don't know what an Edelweiss looks like but I like it anyway ;)
You made a great Edelweiss. Well done.
It's beautiful! All that stitching around each petal and all those French knots. What a unique idea to remember all your friends with their own flower.
This is an edelweis wich I reconized at first sight, (although I am Dutch ..hihi..) You did a great job. Are you from Austria or Switzerland?
Beautiful appliquè! You made a great job!
Well done! It is clearly an edelweiss! I think I made you a tulips once, didn't I? ;-)
Ah yes, but it's brilliant...and unmistakable!!
Hallo Vreni,
ganz eindeutig ein Edelweiß! Wunderschön! Hättest ja auch vielleicht Enzian machen können, oder?
Gute Reise :o) Doris
That's beautiful Vreni, my national flower would have been harder.
This looks very much like edelweiss. You did an excellent job! Those French knots add the perfect finish.
Beautifully stitched Vreni and I am sure it will be well loved.
Looks gorgeous Vreni!
You know that why all us dutchies are sooo cool!!
Lets catch up soon!!
Very nice. I am Canadian so I could make a Trillium which would be pretty easy, especially since most people don't know what it looks like. :)

You did a perfect job Vreni -- I knew right away that your flower is an Edelweiss. It's beautiful! Now, I'm just sitting here wondering what a flower from the US would be LOL.
It's beautiful. I though it was a daisy. But maybe it is an Edelweiss. Regardless ... Awesome stitches.
Das ist ein wunderschönes Edelweiß, das hast Du super gemacht!

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something that
I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very
broad for me. I'm looking forward for your next post, I'll try to get the hang of it!

Your Edelweiss is so beautiful Vreni! I liked the way you put your name on and i laugh with the Dutch people! everything is easier when you are Dutch... I cannot think of a Greek flower though...
It is beautiful and I could see it is an Edelweiss after seeing half the picture, so no doubt about that !
And you are right, for me being Dutch, the flower would be much easier...
Wilma
