A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Laozi from the Tao Te Ching

This is how I'm looking at my new project "Auntie Green's Garden". It will be a long journey and I'm determined to enjoy "the trip" and not only think of the arrival (I think there might be another quote in there) .

To start a huge project like this one can be a bit daunting, but it helps to also break it into feasible chunks. As I said, I'm doing it with two friends and we meet every other Friday. We work together on choosing the fabrics and preparing the next step and then we have two weeks to do our "homework".

I haven't done much hand applique in a while and was a bit out of practice. I tried a few techniques (needle turn, wash away applique paper and back basting) but I think I will stick with needle turn (the Ami Simms way) as it is the most straight forward method.
Thanks for your visit.

Cheers
Vreni x

Love the bright colors! Keep seeing this pattern pop up in different colour ways. Yours has made me want to purchase and start my own Annie's green

Oh, your auntie Green center is looking wonderful. How fun to work on this project with friends. I too enjoy simple needleturn for appliqué, much more straightforward to me!

Wow! It is beautiful!! Two weeks to do all that work.....amazing. I am slowing down myself. Trying to enjoy every step of quilt making and not feel like I have to finish right now. Looking forward to seeing all your blocks.

It's a beautiful project and you're going really well. I like your approach, our hobby is as much about the enjoyment of sewing as the end result.

It looks exquisite, I love the prints you have chosen. I have never tried appliqué, looks quite tricky.

Really pretty, and I'm so happy for you to get to share this project with friends. Seldom, if ever, have I found a friend who wanted to make the same thing I do. You're very fortunate. I wish you lots of fun as you keep making progress.
