Peak Hour is finished

and just in time as my son is leaving for Europe in a few days and will be able to bring it personally and meet the newest member of the family.

The pattern is by Kellie Wulfsohn of Don't Look Now fame! I made it a bit smaller though and added a couple of my own vehicles like the animal truck and the bus.

The backing is from Kellie's fabric line "Peak Hour" by Riley Blake. I used the method of raw edge applique  through all layers of the quilt so all the stitching is clearly visible on the back.

To make it easy on myself, I just stipple quilted it.

I also finished this little wall hanging I started at the beginning of time (or that's how it feels). It just needed the binding, so it was done in a few minutes.  When I was young, I used to make Scherenschnitte and I wanted to see if it works with fabric too. The tree is cut in one piece, just as you would with paper.

Happy Sunday.

I am a huge fan of papercutting. I tried recently to learn it, and I found it harder than it looks. I really like the quilt you did, I think it captures the spirit of papercutting well. (Sorry, I can't spell the German word)

The quilt is great. I know the little one will love all those cars and trucks. I am very impressed by your tree cut in one piece. Very well done xx

Der Babyquilt ist der Hammer, und das mit dem Scherenschnitt hat ja auch gut geklappt. Weissst Du übrigens das Du ganz schön quilten kannst?

I love your Peak Hour quilt, especially the little touches that make it your own. The bus and animal car fit right in!

Peak Hour turned out adorable, Vreni! So much work, and so much time spent quilting! I'm sure it was difficult to send off. I'm sure it will be loved, though. And a second finish too! It's also lovely. I hope you've saved a spot in your house to hang that one. I bet you're breathing a sigh of relief to have these finishes. Feels good, doesn't it?

oh wow, that is fabulous! There is so much work in this quilt! I love that you added a couple of vehicles of your own. The backing fabric is just perfect too.

It's adorable Vreni -- I love your two cute car additions. And I'm really partial to that backing -- did you know that "I" am on there? Haha -- when Kellie was in the states she was always appalled that we don't use our handbrakes here much in the states. So, one of the cars offered for sale is a boxcar (because we rented a box shaped car) and is has a barely used handbrake -- call Anna -- hahaha! Your new family member will LOVE your cute little quilt!

Love this quilt! I think the monkey in the truck is my favorite. This will be a much loved quilt for sure. Such a fun idea to do the tree with one piece of fabric. The quilting reminds me of wind blowing the leaves. Finishes are always a plus.
