A belated Christmas gift

I made my daughter a shopping tote for Christmas. She liked it but told me that she would have preferred it a bit bigger. So what's a good mum to do? Of course make her a bigger one. And this one got her complete approval (and it's reversible) !
As today is the 6th of January (Epiphany) I made a "Three King Bread" (another Swiss tradition).  Traditionally there's a small plastic king hidden in one of the smaller buns, but since I haven't got one, I used a whole almond instead. Whoever gets the bun with the king inside, is king or queen for the day and is allowed the wear the crown. As it turned out lager than I though, I suspect we'll be eating it for breakfast for the next few days.

Bon appétit!

The "Bank of Mum and Dad"

is - as of today - officially closed with both kids now working. Can you imagine how much fabric I can buy with what we "save" from now on? The sky is the limit! In anticipation of this fact I've ordered myself a few little treats:

Note the Vintage Modern Mini Charm pack. I have no idea what to make with it, but I couldn't resist as it's too cute.

Now I just have to find my sewing mojo again which I have somehow misplaced a while ago. Last week we spent a few days at the beach  (in Kota Kinabalu, that's on the Malaysian part of Borneo, in case you are interested) where we attended a wedding and I was hoping that it was waiting for me upon my return. But instead I have brought back a stinkin' cold and said mojo is still nowhere to be found.

Yesterday I made myself sit at the sewing machine, thinking once I start I might enjoy it. I manages to make this shopping bag for which I found the tutorial here.

I was planning to make a few more for our Christmas fair, but I think I might try to make the next one a bit bigger. It's supposed to hold lots of stuff after all.

Till next time, when - hopefully -  I will have a bit more to show you.
